The lament of Prometheus

“The flames of destruction raged around the city, and the Trojans watched in horror as their homes and temples burned to the ground.”

Oh yeah,
I am used
To titanic jobs
Being a Titan born
You seem to be amused
Yes, that chain always throbs
Like a shirt still unwashed, unworn

So here I am chained
Deep in Caucasian no-land
Abandoned and scorned
"Enemy of the Gods" proclaimed
For trying to give you a hand
Despite being warned

I know
You didn’t ask
To be a fave
You’re happy living low
Hiding at dusk
In your cave

Yes I should’ve asked
Before you’re made
But you were “in mading”
Impossible task
For a trader to ask the trade
The permission for trading

You were just a thought
In Zeus’s head
“An ideal slave”
How to me that was brought
I branded as “bad”
And different you I made

Or at least I did try
In my imagination
I thought of you much higher
One who doesn’t just get by
With human limitation
But someone who has … Fire

So Fire, I stole for you
From Helios’s unwatchful eye
I kindled it from a spark
A taught you how to
Kindle yourself the Fire
And spark the light in the dark

I know I should’ve told
That Fire can burn and hurt
And that it can destroy
Your histories now unfold
So many cities burnt
Mine is the flaming of Troy

You should’ve been warned
That flames can awake desire
And that’s when combustion blaze
That’s why I’m being scorned
That’s why my fate’s so dire
For giving your Pride “the base”

That’s where and how it grows
With Independence illusion
The felling of self-reliance
And then it finally goes
Into your mind confusion
Which brakes with Gods’ alliance

Yes, I am guilty of that
I admit my sinful wrongdoing
Didn’t want to cause your demise
And present to you a threat
Or bringing about your ruin
But I should’ve been wise

Therefore, my fate I accept
And welcome that “Eagle of Pain”
To feast daily on my liver
I acknowledge now the concept
Of humans being so vain
That Gods must the Grace them deliver

And so should also the Fire
Be granted to them sparingly
And with the utmost caution
I was just a dishonest liar
Who wanted fame so wearily
That got carried away with passion

And to that confess I must
And lament on my punishment lashes
Still yours will remain the dust
And all of the burning ashes.
