Dark Silence

“Maybe there’s a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night, It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and its a broken Hallelujah”

Leonard Coen – Halleluajah

This is a singable version of the Polish song “Zrozumieć ciszę” (Understand Silence) – music and lyrics by Bartek Królak. My poetic translation is a bit darker (that’s how I feel right now) but generally follows the original narrative.

Sometimes I envy trees – serenity
That, they can speak without words - a tree to a tree
And that they never are ashamed of their green tears
I envy wooden heart of any of the trees
(guitar)

I also envy angels who live above
Not wings or aureoles but clouds white as dove
That misty fluff which hides any angel’s thought
I envy mostly them that they can still have hope

Here in the moment of dark silence
My heart is yelling with the violence
Nobody listens, icy waves freeze my closed eyes
All words have turned to lies
(guitar solo)

And I can feel my blood is boiling in my vein
When I try trudge the alley full of stacks of pain
Still all what’s left to do is carry up that lane
Hear and embrace dark silence
And let it fill my brain

And let them keep repeat that phrase
That you were not my life’s last craze
That I will soon forget the shadow of your face
Let them repeat or keep them silent for some days

Cause in that moment of dark silence
My heart is yelling with the violence
Nobody listens, icy waves freeze my closed eyes
All words have turned to lies

All words have turned to lies
